ERLING
ERLING: I'm your weather watchdog, Erling Biggs.
Before the Traffic Alert, some
announcements.
With the end of summer and the onset of
fall, the city of St. John's has drained all
its swimming pools. As a result, some ...
items have been retrieved from the
filtration systems.
Found in the Bannerman Park Pool, a man's
partial upper plate, one blond wig, one
striped bikini bottom, and a rubber glove.
Found in the Victoria Park Pool a thermos,
one flip-flop, a set of lace curtains, a
pound of nails, and a Club Sobey's card.
Found at the Bowring Park Pool, two pairs of
ladies undergarments, one striped bikini
top, a length of 1" rubber tubing and a
spiked dog collar.
The owners of these items can claim them at
the St. John's City Council Municipal Depot.
In the Traffic Alert for St. John's, don't
forget that today is August 19, annual
Chains and Stud Day. At midnight tonight,
it becomes legal to wear your winter driving
equipment on the streets of St. John's.
Don't let snow say no.
The Grand Opening of the tunnel beneath
Conception Bay connecting Bell Island and
Portugal Cove is slated for tomorrow ...
come take the last ferry tonight.
It's heavy equipment appreciation in St.
John's today so motorists should be prepared
to give the big machines a wide berth as
they make their way to downtown for the
parade. Come on down to salute heavy
equipment and bring the kids, they always
enjoy it.
A public service message from the Department
of Health. It's Garden Party season here in
Newfoundland so people will be tucking into
turkey teas at Parishs from Griquette to
Green Bay. Food can turn in the summer heat
so the Department of Health urges you to
play it safe - Don't Spoil It. Boil It!
Spend the rest of your day with BCN.
Immediately following is "Look It's ... Look
It's" with Pander Parabramey.
I'm Erling Biggs and you are listening to
the Broadcasting Corporation of
Newfoundland.
