That’s it ... my oh my, there’s 
lots of clues in there for the 
discerning puzzle solver.  It’s 
gettable, but it’s a toughy.

Seeing as how we’re not going to 
be playing the contest game for 
a couple of weeks - seasonal 
programming exemptions being 
what they are - Ish Lundrigan 
has given me allowance to draw 
two letters this week.

So, down into the mail bag of 
destiny I go for entry numero 
uno ... and here’s an e-mail all 
the way from ... Waterloo, 
Ontario ... helloo, Waterloo, 
heh-heh-heh.  And it’s from 
David Fiander, and David writes:

“Rather frighteningly, I 
recognise the current noise from 
Newfoundland.”

Hmmm ... wonder why that’d upset 
you, David.

“It's a clip from a documentary 
produced in the 30's or 40's by 
a Newfoundland adventurer about 
his trips to the Arctic ocean 
and North Atlantic.  The only 
problem of course is that I'm 
buggered if I can remember his 
name; but I do remember that he 
was very popular on the social 
circuit in New York and Boston 
at the time.”

Ooooohh, David Fiander, of 
Waterloo, Ontario, you are 
soooooo close !  Can we accept 
this entry, quiz judge Hollis 
Duffett ?

Nooooo !  Oh my, that’s as close 
as we’ve ever come without 
actually giving away the prize !
