Note: this is not a transcript, but a working draft of the script, so there may be differences in the aired version.

PAUL:	These days, The Vault is one
of the happiest places in the
	whole BCN building. I love
	descending through the wires
	and cables and hallways of
	our beautiful broadcast
	emporium, down down through
the dust and the must ...
	there finding the lair of
	sound historian
	extraordinaire, and director
of radio here at BCN, Ish
	Lundrigan. Ish always has
	some sonic treasure for us,
	culled from the millions of
	hours of BCN broadcast time.

And here he is now. good to
	see you, Ish.

ISH:	Paul.

PAUL:	What priceless magic moments
do you have for us today,
	Ish?

ISH:	This month, the International
	Group for Historic Aircraft
	Recovery, or Tiger, takes off
on a mission to find traces
	of the great flier, Amelia
	Earhart.

PAUL:	They’re looking for her
	plane, I guess?

ISH:	Her remains, her camp, any
	other souvenirs they can find
	of her last, fateful around
	the world attempt. July 2,
	1937 she went down off
	Howland Island with her
	navigator, Fred Noonan.

PAUL:	That’s the centre of the
	Howland Heptagon, Ish.

ISH:	The what ?

PAUL:	The Howland Heptagon. You
	know, like the Bermuda
	Triangle. English Crop
	Circles ?

ISH:	Paul, boy, you’ve been in the
	lineup at the supermarket
	again, I can tell.

PAUL:	I don’t know, Ish, many
	strange events are connected
	with the Howland Heptagon.

ISH:	Anyway, while Amelia Earhart
	didn’t include Nfld in her
	ill-fated final journey, she
was here in 19 and 32.

PAUL:	The famous flight ...

ISH:	Gallagher’s pasture ...

PAUL:	Londonderry.

ISH:	And then the great lesbian
	aviatrix was here again in
	1936.

PAUL:	Oh come on, Ish. There was
	absolutely no indication she
	was a lesbian. She was
	married, sure.

ISH:	Bah. Beard.

PAUL:	What’s the tape, Ish ?

ISH:	This is Dirk Pilgrim,
	reporting from her landing in
	July, 1936.

SFX:	WIND WHOOSHING, PLANE PURRING
IN OVER LESTER’S FIELD.

DIRK:	Here she is now, Lady Lindy,
	soaring in over Lester’s
	Field.

You can hear the purr of the
	Lockheed Electra, the most
	advanced aeroplane in the
	skies, expressly designed to
	the aviatrix’s requirements.

SFX:	GENERAL CROWD HUBBUB

DIRK:	And here comes the official
	welcoming party ... the famed
flyer is stepping out of her
aeroplane on to one of the
	bobbing pontoons. She’s
dressed head to toe in her
	flying leathers ...

ISH:	Giveaway.

DIRK:	Sir Peyton Osborne the Third
	is there now, Sir Peyton,
	known for his profound fear
	of flying, shaking hands ...
	Sir Peyton introduces his
	wife to the world’s
	sweetheart, Amelia Earhart.
They embrace ... and, ah, the
	women continue to embrace ...
	and exchange a continental
	greeting ... they must have
	had a previous ...
	acquaintance ... now the
	Lieutenant Governor, Colonel
	Russell Outerbridge, steps
	forward ... he’s about to
	speak and make an official
	presentation.

CRO:	Good afternoon, good lady,
	and welcome to New Found
Land. How do you do, ma’am.
On behalf of the people of
New Found Land, allow me to
	present you with this
	commemorative gift of hard
	biscuit.

ISH:	A bit of a loon, I’m afraid
	...

SFX:	ISH TURNS OFF TAPE MACHINE

PAUL:	No, no, let it run, Ish. You
	can still hear the tracking
	devices.

ISH:	The what ?

PAUL:	Amelia Earhart didn’t
	“disappear”, Ish, she was
	harvested ! Or claimed.

ISH:	What are you talking about ?

PAUL:	Just play back that bit where
	she’s landing.

ISH:	The beginning ?

PAUL:	Yeah.

SFX:	TAPE REWINDS. THEN PLANE
PURRING IN OVER THE LAKE

DIRK:	Here she is now, Lady Lindy,
	soaring in over Quidi Vidi
	Lake.

( CONTINUES UNDERNEATH ) You
can hear the purr of the
	Lockheed Electra, the most
	advanced aeroplane in the
	skies, specially designed to
	the aviatrix’s requirements.

PAUL:	Hear that ?

ISH:	Dirk ?

PAUL:	No, that high-pitched
	clicking.

ISH:	That’s old magnetic tape,
	Paul.

PAUL:	No, Ish. I know that sound.
	That’s alien tracking
	devices.

ISH:	You need a holiday, boy.

PAUL:	Play it backwards, Ish.

SFX:	WE HEAR THE PREVIOUS TAPE
BACKWARDS, AND OVER IT AS A
VOICE THAT MIGHT BE SAYING
	...

VOICE:	Amelia, you are next.

PAUL:	Did you hear that ! Amelia
	Earhart was harvested by
	aliens !

ISH:	What aliens ?

PAUL:	She joins the list of the
	great disappeared, Ish.
	Lindbergh’s baby, for crying
	out loud. Sir John Franklin,
	O.L. Vardy , Ron Gellately
	...

ISH:	Ron Gellately was not
	abducted by aliens.

PAUL:	How do you know, Ish, how do
	you know ?

ISH:	( USHERING PAUL OUT THE DOOR
) Paul, why don’t you come
back soon ... and see me ...

PAUL:	Think I could have a copy of
	this tape ?

ISH:	In the Vault.
