GE 1997-8 Season 4 Episode 8: What's That Noise?
Note: this is not a transcript, but a working draft of the script, so there may be differences in the aired version.
PAUL :	It's the most popular game show in the empire.

IRVING:	I'd love to, Paul, but ...

PAUL:	Fine, stick around. First, we call on Hollis Duffett to
	play the bewildering sound.

SFX:	THE NOISE

Confused ? Good, join the rest of the populace !

So, commissioner, get your hands dirty, dig down deep into the
bulging sack of entries there and draw one out completely at random.

	Dig deeper.

IRVING:	Here's an e-mail, Paul, it's from Orleans, Ontario.

PAUL:	Is that how you say that, Orleans ? Not Or-lens ?

It's from Vivek Krishnamurthy, and Vivek writes: "Dear ..."
blank, I guess he means Dear Paul, "I believe that the sound
from Nfld featured this week is that of the rigging on the Matthew
when it visited St. John's in June of 1997. Thank you, Vivek Krishnamurthy."

Hollis, how's that for a guess?

SFX:	THE WINNER'S THEME !

Yes, we have a winner ! Vivek Krishnamurthy of Orleans, Ontario,
you have correctly identified the sound, a very Nfld sound, it is
indeed the tackle and pulleys and ropes and sails and stuff aboard
the Matthew here in the harbour of destiny, St. John's. And a
beautiful Great Eastern tee is on it's way to you.

IRVING:	You give away tee shirts on the show ?

PAUL:	Yeah, they're prizes.

IRVING:	Whose budget pays for that ?

PAUL:	Hmmm ? Budget ? ...

IRVING:	Does it come out of the Great Eastern envelope ?

PAUL:	Wab uh tum eh nana ?

IRVING:	Excuse me ?

PAUL:	Thank you, Commissioner Irving Winterbridge for being our
guest today on What's That Noise From Nfld, and congrats on pulling a winner.

IRVING:	You're welcome, Paul.

PAUL:	Dedicated listeners to the What's That Noise contest know
that when we have a winner we wind up yet another mystery din.

I'll give you our mailing address in a moment, so get a pencil
and some paper if you plan on entering.

But first, Hollis Duffet, get us started with a brand new noise.

SFX:	THE NEW NOISE

Here're a couple of glorious old tunes by a band that played with
disarming ease. From the emerald isle, it's The Bothy Band and
