TOP: A portrait of Paul's venerable ancestor, Jan Pietr Moth of Ucker. The Moths came to Newfoundland from Ireland in 1751. They were originally a merchant family in the Dutch lowland county of Ucker. The Moths were Dutch spies for the Hanover Princes. Jan Pietr Moth was rewarded for services to the Hanovers, a vast estate in Scotland, (under the Dutch-English treaty of Schleswig-Larraine) and the right to bear arms.
