Note: this is not a transcript, but a working draft of the script, so there may be differences in the aired version.
Hello, I’m Rita Molloy, with some BCN community announcements:
The Federation of Newfoundland Authors are holding their 12th
Annual “Mark My Words” festival this weekend. Readings, Book
Signings, and Seminars, for the professional and the novice writer.
Today at Noon at the Devon Arms, poet Bronwyn Tibbo reads from her
latest collection, “Fungicide” and Maureen Byrd gives a talk entitled
Delbert Onglow and The Newfoundland School of Punitive Literature.
And at two in Bannerman Park the city’s shredders start churning for
the Book Re-cycling project. Don’t mince words! Mulch them!
The Status of Women’s Council are holding a Dead Beat Dad round-
up. Join the angry mob as it beats the bushes to flush out louts and
lay-abouts alike. “Pay-up Pops” is the message, a mass of muscular
Moms, the means! Rendezvous at City Hall at 2:30 and please come
equipped.
The Avalon League of Deep Fat Fryers hold their biennial meeting in
the kitchens of the Cabot Institute at 3:00. Today Gid Stockley will
be formally named a Grand Master of the League in recognition of his
ground breaking work in deep fried salt. Also on the agenda, the
League’s efforts to keep the province Olestra free.
Those are some community announcements. I’m Rita Molloy. You are
listening to BCN 520, All Newfoundland Radio.
