Posters

Gerry began doing commissions for posters in the late 80’s, and quickly became an indispensable part of the theatre scene in St. John’s. He developed close relationships with companies like Resource Centre for the Arts, Rabbittown Theatre and c2c Theatre, among others. Gerry was known as a responsive and thoughtful collaborator whose design sensibility prized clarity and function above all.

In the last decade of Gerry’s life, the pace of his freelance work increased. He would often work on posters and web design into the evening, after coming home from his job as Senior Multimedia Specialist at Memorial University’s online education department. The posters here showcase the wide range of Gerry’s mature style, from the dark and subtle palette of The Drowning Girls to the eye-popping colours of his illustration for Brazil Square.
